Obscurity is central to Scarlett's work. She employs a surrealist style to seek out symbolic elements that reinterpret people's lives and struggles. Her art is characterised by dualities: beauty and ugliness, the bright and dark sides of human nature, the concrete and the abstract, and vibrant colors juxtaposed with dark themes. Scarlett avoids being prescriptive, instead offering viewers multiple entry points into her narratives, which primarily explore identity and feminism.
